On April 20th, a beautiful sunny brisk spring day, Team GBF did a rehearsal through the scenic rolling hills and mountains of the Virginia country side. It was an opportunity to test our rider rotations and chase car operations with the Sprinter van. Starting in the town of Marshall we weaved our way through the picturesque small towns of Middleburg, Snickersville, Bluemount, Paris and Rectortown back to Marshall. It was great training for the riders – 50+ miles of hard climbs and fast descents. It was even better practice for Carol (Gino’s wife) and John (the Crew Chief) who had to navigate through unfamiliar roads with bad directions, limited GPS coverage and no maps. It was definitely a “worst case” scenario for the crew but Carol and John did a fantastic job holding things together and facilitating smooth rider transitions.
